Building RealtyMogul
Co-Investment - Radical Transparency - Proactive Accessibility
Founded in 2012, RealtyMogul opened access to commercial real estate investing for a broader investor base. Since inception, the platform has grown to more than 300,000 members and has offered over $8BN in property value on the platform.1 Today, as part of The Wideman Company, RealtyMogul combines proven technology with nearly 50 years of operator-led real estate experience. The result is a platform that is still trusted: now more disciplined, aligned, and execution-focused.
Our insights, processes, beliefs, and history.
Our Founding Insights
For decades, commercial real estate was largely limited to investors with scale, access, and specialized expertise. RealtyMogul was built to change that by giving investors access to institutional-quality real estate opportunities without requiring institutional capital.
From the beginning, three realities stood out:
- Long-term wealth creation is often tied to real estate ownership.
- The most durable income streams are not directly tied to hours worked.
- Passive cash flow and asset-backed investments play a critical role in portfolio construction.
RealtyMogul was designed around these principles—and continues to operate with them in mind.
Every offering is evaluated with a focus on:
- Property-level fundamentals
- Sponsor experience and alignment
- Market selection and pricing discipline
- Downside risk and execution risk
Technology enables access and efficiency. Human judgment governs decisions.
In November 2025, RealtyMogul was acquired by a group of real estate operators led by The Wideman Company, a family-owned firm with nearly five decades of experience owning and operating institutional-quality assets across market cycles.
This transition marked a shift toward deeper operator involvement, refined underwriting practices, and direct alignment of interests through co-investment. The Wideman Company’s operating philosophy—grounded in discipline, stewardship, and long-term ownership—now informs how new opportunities are sourced, reviewed, and managed on the platform.
